Fluvial Response to Climate Change in the Pacific Northwest: Skeena River Discharge and Sediment Yield
نویسندگان
چکیده
Changes in climate affect the hydrological regime of rivers worldwide and differ with geographic location basin characteristics. Such changes within a are captured flux water sediment at river mouths, which can impact coastal productivity development. Here, we model discharge yield Skeena River, significant British Columbia, Canada. We use HydroTrend 3.0, two global models (GCMs), representative concentration pathways (RCPs) to fluvial fluxes related change until end century. Contributions from glaciers decreases throughout century, while basin-wide overland instream contributions driven by precipitation increase. Bedload, though increased compared period (1981–2010), is on decreasing trajectory For overall yield, simulations suggest conflicting results, those GCMs that predict higher increases temperature predicting an increase total (suspended bedload) up 10% some scenarios, more moderate decrease as much 20%. The results highlight complexity conveyance Columbia present first comprehensive investigation into this understudied system.

Projected Dryland Cropping System Shifts in the Pacific Northwest in Response to Climate Change
Agriculture in the dryland region of the Inland Pacific Northwest (IPNW, including northern Idaho, eastern Washington and northern Oregon) is typically characterized based on annual rainfall and associated distribution of cropping systems that have evolved in response to biophysical and socio-economic factors. Three agro-ecological classes (AEC) have been proposed for the region: (a) crop/fallo...

متن کاملAnalyzing Climate Zooning and Climate Change Effects on Discharge of Jajrood River Basin
In this study, for climate zoning and determining the effects of climate change on discharge of Jajrood River Basin, data from 9 available stations in Jajrood River Basin were used. In order to create climatic zones in the Jajrood River Basin, multivariate cluster analysis was used. To validate the data, discriminant analysis was employed. For investigating the effects of temperature and precip...
متن کاملHow is Pacific Northwest Climate Projected to Change?
Continued rise in annual average temperature. Warming is projected to continue throughout the 21 century (Figure 5-1). For the 2050s relative to 1950-1999, temperature is projected to rise +5.8°F (range: +3.1 to +8.5°F) for a high greenhouse gas scenario (RCP8.5). Much higher warming is possible after mid-century (Figure 5-1, Table 5-1). Lower emissions of greenhouse gases will result in less...
